|What is the link between John Lobb Ltd in St James's Street and John Lobb run by Hermes?
At the beginning of the last Century, William Lobb, the son of our founder, John Lobb, opened a shop in Paris, at 47 Faubourg St. Honore, where it remained until 1976. It was run along the same lines as our shop in London, but with its own craftsmen and to the same high standards.
In 1976 it became impossible to stay at 47 Faubourg St. Honore and so negotiations were made with Hermes of Paris, who subsequently took over John Lobb in Paris, whilst the Lobb family continued in London. John Lobb, Paris, then continued as in the past and at the same time slowly developed a range of ready-made shoes. These, naturally, are based on the long tradition and skilled craftsmanship, which was founded by John Lobb in 1849.
John Lobb, London (the Lobb family run shop) is proud of the fact that John Lobb, Paris – thanks to Hermes' expert direction – have developed and expanded the ready made styles and at the same time maintained the made to measure shop in Paris. The bespoke made-to-measure shop is now located at 32 rue de Mogador, in Paris. A number of boutiques selling ready-made shoes have opened throughout the world, some offering a made to measure service. For more information please visit their web site at JohnLobb.com.
